Meet Our Team
Adventure Run Coaching was formed off the back of years spent discussing all things adventure running and the eventual realisation that it is actually possible to combine running training theory and mountain-craft skills with a sense of adventure to take on challenges you may never have thought possible.

Bethan Logan
Bethan is a life-time lover of mountains who has been coaching and instructing in the outdoors for over fifteen years. She has led groups of young people and adults in most mountainous areas of the UK and seeks to share her love of maps and trig points with anyone and everyone. When she’s not working in the mountains you’ll find her planning out her own adventures. Whether taking on long-distance fastpacking routes in Europe or closer to home in Wales, or competing in the Skyrunning UK series or Golden Trail Series, she is never too far from some rocky outcrops.

Bethan holds her Summer Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing Instructor and Coach in Running Fitness qualifications and is an experienced tutor on National Navigation Award Scheme and Hill and Mountain Skills courses. If you want to get into the mountains, face a new challenge and learn some mountain-craft and navigation along the way, she’ll get you there.

From inauspicious beginnings, Bethan became an international mountain runner aged 37, and since 2024 has represented Wales four times in mountain and trail running. She still can’t quite believe that the girl who lacked so much co-ordination and finesse in PE in school is now running for her country and has won such gnarly skyrunning races as the Pinnacle Ridge Extreme. If only there had been more mountains in the primary school cross country league! She is a huge advocate of the idea that it is never too late to chase your dreams and think big and you will always see her with a huge smile on her face, whether she is podium chasing or trying not to be last. Running in the mountains is a huge privilege, and one that she would love to share with as many people as possible.

Bethan’s specialism is in technical, 25-40km skyrunning races and shorter fell races, however, she loves variety and has competed in multiple multi-day self-navigation events, trail races and is about to take on the biggest challenge to date which will take her well outside her comfort zone. The challenge and adventure is a big part of the running journey in her eyes and she is the creator of many DIY adventure challenges, either for herself or others, preferably completed from the doorstep. You don’t need to go far to have an adventure!

Brett Mahoney
Brett comes to coaching with a long distance travelled. From an adolescence of inactivity, Brett has developed from a couch to 5km runner, to completing his first trail marathons and ultras, to competing in some of the most technical mountain races that the UK has to offer, all while sticking to his passions of completing solo fell running adventures in the mountains (with plenty of bog hopping and bracken bashing thrown in for good measure!).
Brett is now a highly experienced fell runner, qualified mountain leader, rock climbing instructor, leader in running fitness and currently working towards the UK Athletics Coach in Running Fitness.

Brett's passion lies in ultra distance fell running and the complexities of balancing run training for performance, with the mountain craft required to complete exciting endurance challenges in the mountains.
Brett is also an active member of Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, covering the Black Mountains area of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and a Dad to two adventurous kids.

Our Values
Whatever adventure or challenge you are planning or aiming towards, if you are excited about it, we are excited about it.
We want to help you find your why and achieve your goals,
whatever the missing piece of the puzzle might be – from navigation to mountain-craft to building running consistency or increasing speed or strength in the hills.
Our Approach
We will work with you to identify which aspects of your running you want or need to improve to achieve your exciting adventure goals.
Our approach blends proven training methodology in running fitness, strength and form with real life adventure scenarios so that you can train systematically, see improvements but also keep motivation high and the experience meaningful and relevant throughout the training process.
We want you to enjoy the process as much as the end results, even when that means applying grit and determination and
fumbling about with a compass in the dark from time to time.
